Why I Chose My Blog Name

A Chelsea Morning wants to know why our blogging names are our blogging names. Great question since I wonder that myself.

Last Christmas I went to a craft fair (one of many) and one of the booths featured sayings painted on pieces of wood. Such a basic idea that I couldn't believe I was going to spend money on it...but I loved "Because Nice Matters"...because it does, it really does. I just stood there and stared at it thinking how over-used the word "nice" is, but how it's still important, and sometimes it is the word you are looking for.

So, I bought the banner and hung it over my kitchen door where everyone who enters my house sees it (and comments on it) and we who live here see it many times a day...and it's my secret hope that it will (unconsciously) get permanently lodged in our brains.

That's all folks :)

I love your name because "nice" really does matter. So simply put with such a strong reminder to just be nice. :) I also love craft shows. lol

Sandy, that's a great story. And because I couldn't possibly agree with you more, I love the name of your blog. It really DOES matter.

Hi Sandy,
I come to you via Barb's blog. I am getting to meet lots of new people this way. I'm new to blogging, so all of this is still an adventure to me.
I very much like your name. I remember reading a book not too long ago where the women thought it was just deadly to be called nice. I happen to think nice matters too. I sometimes wish I were the more mysterious type, but I think nice does very well.
I read your post about hurting your Mom's feelings. While I am a grandmother myself know, I know how you feel. I often engage my mouth before there is any noticeable brain activity. I sometimes lie in bed thinking about the things I said and just squirm in shame. It's a wonderful thing about moms, they very easily forgive. I think that's a wonderful thing. We all say things we regret from time to time. I'm sure she understands.

I have to agree with you on the title. I have often had merchandise in hand at a store checkout and left without buying if someone was rude to me. I don't understand why being nice is so hard for some people. I think I met the friendliest people when I lived in College Station, TX. Everyone saying "Howdy and Yes, Ma'am." I love it!
